Leading People to Where God Wants Them to Be

2018 – In the Beginning God

Here we are with a New Year.  2018 is going to have a lot of great opportunity.  Every year since 1985, I have used a “read through the Bible in a year plan”. There is always something special about January 1’s reading.  Especially the first four words, “In the beginning God”.  I believe it is good to reflect on where we are now, and then ask ourselves are we where we are supposed to be.  The best New Year’s plan I have found is very simple, let God be my beginning.  Most of the time we do “our thing” and when it fails we resort to asking God to come in and save the day.  Instead of that plan, let’s start with God.  Take a little alone time with the Father and get some things squared away in our life.  Here are some ideas to get started.  Acts 3:19 is a good scripture.

Acts 3:19 (NASB95)

19 “Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;

1.  Repent – get rid of sin and everything holding you back

2.  Return – come back to seeking the Lord’s plan and perfect will for your life

3.  Refresh – receive the times of refreshing form the Holy Spirit.  We have heard that we all need help from above.  How about help from within.  If you are a Christian, the Holy Spirit lives in you.  Acknowledge His presence and be sensitive to His leading.

There it is, a simple way to get the year started off right.  I also encourage you to spend some extra time in the Word this year.  Maybe get your own Bible reading plan.
